My daughter has loved horses since before she started school.  She took riding lessons when she was in elementary school for a while.  When she started college, she immediately joined the Equestrian team!

This past weekend, I went to my daughter's most recent show.  It was outdoors and of course it was the first really hot day!  She was supposed to ride at 8 a.m. The sun was beating down when we got there at 7:45 a.m.  They made some changes, so she didn't ride until about 9 a.m.

Luckily, the horses don't kick up dust, or I wouldn't have been able to go.  The dirt doesn't fly all over.

We finally got to take a dip in the pool yesterday!  The water wasn't freezing.  It was really hot out; about 90 degrees.

Hubby and I went to the gym, which was difficult for me yesterday.  I had to stop early because I was having a hard time breathing.  My mom just told me they said on the news last night that this weather will cause complications.  I wound up proving them right!

We came home and cooled off in the air conditioning.  Then we went out back for a while.  My sister had some friends over using the pool and the kids joined when they got home from school!  School doesn't end here until June 20something!

I was in the pool maybe 20 minutes.  I can't go in barefoot.  I can't shave my legs.  This is due to the frequent infections.  So, I wear water shoes

I was exhausted but the party went on.  My sister was still back there. They had a barbecue. Her hubby met her here after work.

My nephew came with friends.  He had a barbecue. His girlfriend made a great peanut sauce and they made grilled chicken on skewers and grilled zucchini.

The sauce actually bothered me.  Just the smell of it.  (It was blowing towards me.  I had to move my seat to another table)  Of course, I couldn't eat anything.

This house is always full of people.  You would think it was a community center.  Anyone can show up at any time.  It's never boring or lonely!  It's definitely fun!

Injuries are a leading cause of disability for people of all ages – and they are the leading cause of death for Americans ages 1 to 44. The good news is everyone can get involved to help prevent injuries. Find Services near you.
This June, we encourage you to learn more about important safety issues like prescription painkiller abuse, transportation safety, and slips, trips, and falls.
  • Prescription painkiller abuse: Prescription painkiller overdoses are a growing problem in the United States, especially among women. About 18 women die every day from a prescription painkiller overdose – more than 4 times as many as back in 1999.
  • Transportation safety: Doing other activities while driving – like texting or eating – distracts you and increases your chance of crashing. Almost 1 in 5 crashes (17%) that injured someone involved distracted driving.
  • Slips, trips, and falls: One in 4 older adults falls each year. Many falls lead to broken bones and other health problems.
You can make a difference. Find out ways to help reduce the risk of these safety issues.
