Welcome - Make Yourself At Home - Some History On Me

Hello and Welcome!  My name is Doreen Campisi and I'm so very happy to have you here!  

My goal is to help others and learn myself.   Let’s make this a fun and educational place.  If you are here with good intentions, if you want to learn, share, teach, ask questions, contribute positively and, hey, I'll even take a compliment or two, then please stay!

Excuse my being out of breath in parts of my videos, asthma does that.

I  had a horrible experience with a group of "people" whose only interest was harassment.  They came to an old blog 5 to 6 times a day. They knew before they opened the blog that whatever they found, they were going to bash. That was their agenda. 

This is going to be a happy place for foodies like myself, with a twist.  You see, approximately eight years ago, I ate a cookie.  I wound up being rushed to the ER.   The funny thing is, I rarely ate cookies.

That was the beginning of "the end" or so I thought.  I had a surprise allergic reaction.  But to what? That was the mystery in the ER that Sunday evening. "What are you allergic to" I was asked  by medical personnel.  I think even the janitor asked.

I had no answer. I wasn't aware of being allergic to anything.  That would all change.  As of this writing, I cannot eat gluten, nuts, soy, eggs, corn, sulfites, take penicillin or many antibiotics. They also suspect I have a problem with genetically modified foods, additives, preservatives, etc. 

This got progressively worse through the years.  I'm still seeing specialists and having testing done. If something new develops, I will  let you know in the hopes of helping others.  

I also have problems with chemicals such as bleach, liquid drain treatments, etc.

I was advised to eat all organic and it seems to help, though I can't eat everything.

Sounds crazy, right. I thought so too.  It's not that bad.  Scroll through my blog.  I am happy to share how I made this work.  It's not without issues or anxiety, but you learn to deal.  (See Why Am I Not Posting Recipes? Because IT Has Started Again!)

Occasionally, I will post recipes and/or pictures of the food the family cooks for special occasions.  You are free to modify to suit your  diet, allergies, religious beliefs...  

I come from a large, close family of Italian descent.  I grew up having  traditional Sunday dinner at my paternal grandmother's house every week with extended family.  (See Family, Friends, Food And Fun!)

I learned to cook from the absolute BEST, both my grandmothers and my mom!  I've  had a love for cooking since I was a young child.  I used to help my maternal grandmother make homemade ravioli from age 5.  I also helped her can tomatoes from her garden. 

I used to cook with my paternal grandmother when she would spend the week at our house.  I still remember making chicken cutlets in mom's kitchen. 

I cooked with my mom all the time and by 14, I would make complete dinners for the family.  


I'm happy to have you here and look forward to having fun and learning together.  I love  to photograph food.  I post pictures on Facebook and now get requests.  

People say they want an invite to join in the fun and enjoy the menu!  The door is always open, the more the merrier!  You will never go hungry, you will have fun, laughs and enjoy some crazy antics. 

Family, friends, food and fun - that's my motto!  

P.S.  I hope you like dogs, there's dogs of all shapes and sizes and they are part of the family!
