Long Island is known for its seafood. After all, we are an island. What can you expect when where you live is surrounded by water! (See 12 Facts About Long Island, New York)
I used to love seafood. I can't eat it any longer. I can't eat anything any longer, well, almost nothing that is. (See Why Am I Not Posting Recipes? Because IT Has Started Again!)
I know seafood, especially shellfish, is on the list of top food allergies. However, for those not allergic, Long Island is a great place to enjoy fresh seafood all summer long! (See HELLO OUT THERE - DEAR MANUFACTURERS - YOU ARE DRIVING ME CRAZY!)
Of course, if you are allergic to shellfish, you can order fish other than shellfish as well.

Of course further out East there's many more seafood restaurants. Almost every town along the North Shore and South Shore will have wonderful seafood restaurants.
I used to love eating out in Hampton Bays. The restaurant we frequented had indoor and outdoor seating. The fishing boats pulled right up to the dock of the restaurant and unloaded. You couldn't get fresher fish if you tried! It went from the boats to your plates!
Another well-known restaurant, which I ate in a few times, is Oakland's Restaurant & Marina.
Of course, if you visit Long Island and love seafood, you MUST visit Claudio's on the North Shore in Greenport!
